Korea Visa Extension Guide
What happens if I apply after my visa has expired? (Overstay penalties)
After your period of stay expires, you are considered an illegal resident — you may face deportation, and under the Immigration Act you can be punished by up to 3 years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 30 million KRW. It may also affect your future re-entry to Korea.
Always apply before your expiry date. If your expiry is imminent or has already passed, call the Immigration Contact Center at 1345 immediately.
